“L’amérique se dissimule derrière ses gratte-ciels”. This quote has stayed with me for years. I love the image it invokes of the essential character of new world vs old. North Americans seem to hide inside glass towers, grab a coffee to go and disappear back inside. Europeans relish the theatre of the street. They gather in cafés to be part of the scene, to observe and be observed. Urban Jumble is a look at the “new world”.
